TRACE Consortium Holds First In-Person Meeting in Porto

The TRACE consortium reached a significant milestone in its journey by gathering in Porto for its very first in-person meeting on 26-27 February. Hosted by our partner, SHINE 2Europe, the event served as a powerful reminder that while research may begin in the laboratory, its true impact is forged through human connection.

The two-day agenda was packed with strategic planning and collaborative energy. Our partners engaged in deep discussions to refine the project’s trajectory and ensure the seamless integration of various workstreams. Key highlights included assessing achieved milestones, calibrating the next phases of research, and designing a roadmap for upcoming project cycles. Beyond the technical work, moving past digital screens allowed us to build the trust and rapport that only physical presence can provide.

We also had the invaluable opportunity to hear from our Transnational Stakeholders Group—Hugo R. Soares, Marius Geanta, MD, PhD, and Josep M. Borras—as well as our project’s Ethics Advisor, Lars Münter. Their unique perspectives ensure that TRACE remains aligned with global health trends and stakeholder needs.

To round out our first in-person meeting, we also took the time to stroll through the streets of Porto, immersing ourselves in the local culture and strengthening our bonds outside of the meeting room.
